How do I select an object in the middle of the picture???

usually I opt for the lazy way out..:P

I simply clone what I want to copy into a new layer, minus what I don't want. then I erase any stray bits with alot of zoom and a really small eraser.

Probably not the fastest way to do things, but it's another option. :)

just my 2 cents for what it's worth.
