A routine thing I do to photographs is to whiten teeth. To do this, I lasso the teeth, desaturate and then lighten them.

I'd like to create a brush with desaturate and lighten abilities so that I can choose that brush and then "swab" it over the teeth. This would save me a lot of time.

Anyone know how to do this? Thanks in advance.

Hi there,

Try using the Sponge Tool to desaturate, and the Dodge tool to lighten things up. Both are available from the toolbox.

Hope this helps

Not bad... just tried it. But it's still 2 tools and the brush sizes were the wrong size. By the time I resize, the other way is just as quick.

I'm working on 150 photos, mostly of groups of people. It would be really nice to have ONE ready-available tool that would lighten and desaturate.

You could set up an action. One adjustment layer for lightening and de-saturation. Fill the layer masks with black. Save/Stop the action.

Brush the layer masks to white over the teeth and eyes.

Then just set up an "F" or command key to run the action.

So you call up your image, hit F5 (or whatever you choose), brush the teeth and eyes, flatten and save. Pretty quick.

You can navigate between the Sponge and Dodge tools using the letter O on the keyboard. You can also customize this inside the Keyboard Shortcuts dialogue.

As default, the letter O jumps between the Dodge, Burn and Sponge Tools, maybe you could take the Burn tool out of the equation (again using Keyboard Shortcuts) and have it only jump between the 2 brushes you need. Tie this with adjusting the brush sizes using the brackey keys and you've got a lightning fast workflow.

I like CombiBob's idea too, executed smoothly it'll work well!

Hope this helps
