For some reason, images always appear darker than they really are. It used to not do this. How can I get it to go back to normal? |

Can you post a screenshot? If you go to Image - Mode you can see what color mode you're working in. It's also at the top of every document window. _________________ Best Regards,

It sounds more like a colour management issue than a general problem. Turn off your colour management (until you get familiar with it). Post back with the results. As a rule these problems are generally cleared up by turning off colour profiles. _________________ If life serves you lemons, make lemonade! |

Turning off colour management did not help. Also I am in RGB mode. |

I have the EXACT same problem. Whenever I try and save optimized, it looks WAY darker. I use RGB too. Someone told me to change to sRGB, but that didn't do anything but make it look brighter, but it still turned out darker. This is soo frustrating to me. I turned color management off.
All I want is for what I make to be the same colors and shade as my saved file. |

It really would help if you could post screenshots of the problem, it still sounds like colour management issues as 99% of these problems are. Take a screenie of your colour management setup. _________________ If life serves you lemons, make lemonade! |

I know this is a really old post but I have the same problem and a screen shot for example.
As you can see the only thing I have done is selected save for web, these are the same picture but the save for web one is the proper brightness while the one displayed in Photoshop is darker.
This is best seen in the door area.
I have had this problem in the past and I think I had to reinstall Photoshop but it would be better if there was a simpler answer, I don't believe it has anything to do with color management. Even when choosing 'don't color manage this document' the problem remains.
