hello, i am trying to use the gradient tool, but it is having no effect on the photo. so far i have duplicated the background and added a mask. making sure the mask is selected, i have then gone on to use the gradient tool. nothing happens to the image, however you can see in the mask box the marks where the gradient should be. all the opacity setting are on 100%, and the modes are normal.
what am i not doing, or doing wrong??
please!?!!!
thanks

imogen,
If you haven't hidden (or altered in some way) the Background layer, masking its copy won't change the composite image.
