I have a folder of about 500 photos that were scanned in from old prints (my wife's faimily) of avarious sizes. I would like to write a Photoshop action that will add a border (half an inch) at the bottom if each and print the contents of the "description" field from the file info box in it. Any one have any idea about how to accomplish this? Thanks _________________ Richard Smith

Hi there
I'd need to think about this one but first thoughts are that you'd have problems adding the contents of the 'descriptions' box from the file info area to the image. The only way of doing it inside an action would be to copy/paste the text, and that would record the actual text rather than an application of the copy/paste command inside the description area.
Everything else you want to do is possible, maybe you could write the action to stop and ask the user to enter text where you already have a predefined block. It wouldn't be easy, and you'd have resolution issues to deal with (assuming your images are different sizes) but it is possible - so there is hope!!
As far as copying text from the info box, I think you'd need to create a script to run from inside photoshop. Very difficult, but once again - possible!!
Hope this helps _________________ Matt

Thanks. The text was exactly the problem I ran into. But I kept thinking PS does similar things so there must be a way to access that text
I posted the question on another board as well as this one and a member there wrote a script that did the job just right and sent it to me. Very kind and it worked great. Job is now done and all is well. I must learn to write scripts!!!
