Hi-
I am trying to replace the gray sky in one photos with the blue sky from another.
I've just gone through several tutorials but can't seem to figure out how to add more than 1 photo into the layers palette.
I open PS CS3, click on the top menu 'file', click "open", click the photo, click 'open' and the photo appears in the layers palette on the right side.
Then I repeat the process with a 2nd photo, and instead of being added in the layers box on the right as a 2nd photo, it replaces the first photo.
If I click the little box at the bottom 'new layer', I just get the blank checkerboard opacity.
How can I get 2 photos to open in the layers box?
Are there any tutorials that show specifically how to change a sky?
thanks!

I would first open CS3 open your main image, then make a duplicate layer of the background (new main image) just incase you make a mistake by pressing CTRL J at the same time

Then make sure the backfround layer is selected and not the duplicate layer, then press the eye icon to the left on the backgound layer so it is not shown and only the duplicate layer is shown ( the reason will become clear later on)
Use a selection tool to highlight the grey sky, on the duplicate layer once highlighted press delete and only the grey sky should disappear.
Make sure the image in the foreground (the blue sky image) is selected. Press CTRL A at the same time, you will see nothing happen, just that you are telling Photoshop you have selected the entire image.
Then get the move tool, top left hand icon on the tool bar, should look like a black arrow head. Get the move tool over the image left click and keep holding the left mouse button and also press the left shift key at the same time. Drag the image to the one at the back and let go of the left mouse button first and then let go of the shift key.
The new image now should be over the main image in full glory. If you want to change the location just left click and move the foreground image about. to change the scale press CTRL T at the same time and drag in any direction. to keep to the scale hold he left shift key wilst dragging to maintain the scale. When finished press enterto accept the new changes.

Then go into file and open your new sky image with this image press
Then finally swap the the main image (duplicate layer) above the new sky image layer and you should have a new sky.
(If you cannot see the new sky, ensure the bottom layer (background layer is turned off as stated above)

Hope this helps
