Hi There-
I am trying to add a drop shadow to a vector layer and it is not working and was wondering if there is a way to add that and other effects.
I first created my box using the rectangle tool and filled it in with a solid color. With the layer active, I selected the "add a layer style" button to bring up my options. I then checked the "Drop Shadow" box and procedded to use the tools in the drop shadow box, with the preview boxed checked, as I made my selections, nothing was hapening to my solid color box where It was supossed to go.
The layer is a "Layer thumbnail" and a "Vector Mask Thumbnail" with a lock in between them. Even after I unlock them (just to see) it still doesn't work. Thnaks for taking the time to look at my post and any help you could provide will be greatly appriciated.
I aslo have another question in relation to this same problem. If I create two boxes and fill them in with a solid color each, how can I apply a drop shadow to the top box at the top of the box and a drop shadow to the bottom of the box at the bottom????? When I try it, photoshop wants to put the drop shadow in the same place on both boxes and I want them placed in two different areas on each box. Is there an option that will somhow "unlink" "Layer Styles" from each of these boxes??? Thanks Much for your time !!!
Please feel free to reply back if you are in need of more info regarding this in order to give all needed information.

Hi There-
Thanks for the reply, but unfortunality setting the shadow to normal did not work. I still get nothing for the drop shadow option. You medtioned to reset my preferences folder, could you advise on how to do that? Thanks for your time again.

Did you try selecting the box, then put the shadow? Sometimes that works for me..with other things..
Your second problem, uncheck the 'use global light' box..I believe then you can put shadows in different places.. _________________ and the wisdom to know the difference...
