If you are a student then you could get a student licence for a fair bit cheaper. Otherwise I am afraid there are no cheap options that I know of.

Yes.

As Thehermit suggested, if you don't intend on using it for commercial purposes, the student version is cheaper, but... it is not the cheapest route. Also, the 'non-commercial use' restriction is really friggin' limiting, so if you can avoid purchasing the student version, and instead going for one of the below listed options, by all means do so.

The cheapest route is to find an old version of Photoshop, buy it for a nominal amount, register your copy (thus ensuring it is a legal copy, and in your name), and then buy the upgrade for as little as $142 (click here). Before doing this, however, i recommend checking the list of 'acceptable' programs for upgrade to Photoshop CS, then do some online shopping, or visit some warehouse-type computer shops.

Otherwise, you can try clicking here for the full package.

If you only want to try it out for a short time (30 days), you can download Adobe's trial version of Photoshop CS (click here).

Last note: Avoid companies like Flashcorpsoftware. They sell you a 'copy' of their version for 'archival purposes only.' Basically, that means they're giving you a full-useable copy, but if you use it or install it on your computer, you're wrong for doing so.

I just happened to find this message and was wondering something. How ould Adobe know if you used the program for commercial use? By this I mean. How would they know if you restored a photo and got paid for it?
Just wondering?
Thanks
Scrappy

Don't buy OEM software. 99% of them are scams. The academic version is prolly the best way to go, or what White Warlock suggested.

Here's a link for some academic prices.
