If you're not a hardcore photoshop user, it will do the job well. For me, it's not enough. I need more tools and more layer capability than what CS can offer.

lol, nm. Was thinking of that cheap version of photoshop. I'm embarrassed to admit i didn't even know Adobe came out with version 8 of Photoshop (i.e., CS).

if you use photoshop extensively and professionally, the new features will make a difference. Some of them make life with photoshop so much easier, and some are very clever. Some of the new features are downright cool, but not essential for most people. For me it is worth the upgrade because of features like typing on a curve (that was a big one!),the improved file browser, being able to save an editing history with my files, the new layers comp palette, and being able to scan multiple pictures at one time, letting photoshop do the work of cropping them into their own documents. It really depends on how you use photoshop.
