I've been trying to create a realistic pearl but with not much luck.
I googled around found a couple of tutorials, but none of them gave realistic results so I tried to do it myself. This is what I got to:

Unfortunately it's not realistic enough and since I need the picture to be at least 600x600 I couldn't find any pictures worthy to take from the web.

So does any of you have any suggestion on making that realistic pearl?

Thanks in advance for any responses Nod

That looks pretty good to me, I think it's a bit of fine tuning perhaps? Wayne

Thanks for the comments.

Although you think it's good, I'm still not happy with it.
Take a look at this pearl:

It looks more realistic than mine. Maybe because it's more reflective.
I don't want my picture to look exactly like this pearl (since this is not such a good photograph of a pearl) but I want it to have the realism that this kind of photos have.
It's probably has to do with reflections, but I'm not sure what I can do about it.

ok try this

1. make some sections like the light on the picture that you want.
2. drop the opacity a tiny bit
3. mess around with some styles like outer glow etc.
