Some how I have made it so the LINE TOOL is a Thin ARROW. I have no idea how I did it and I really need this reset to how it should be.
I cannot even understand HOW I could have made the Line Tool anything other than the Line as it's the Custom styles where you can select what Custom sytle cursor to use.

I'm not sure if I'm with you here, are you sure it's the line tool thats gone wrong or are you in the custom tool by mistake, if you hold the curser left click on the line tool theres a few different options (see pic)
If it's the line tool part thats gone wrong in some way (can't think how) try reseting preferences Hold down ALT+CTRL+shift as soon as PS starts to load. Wayne

Another post got the answer.. I had "Arrowheads" on "end" in the selection for the custom cursors..
|
