Hello!
I hate to admit it but I had a DOH!! moment today as I was setting CS2 up on my new MacPro (OS X ). I went into CS2 preferences and selected my 2nd internal HD as the primary scratch disk. I shut CS2 down and when I tried to reopen it I got "Could not initialize photoshop because the disk is not available " and that was that.  I called Adobe support and they had me go into my user library and PC prefernces and delete the CS2 preference file and restart CS2 to re-create it. They did not know how to set the scratch disk on any other than the OS drive..( or at least that tech didn't) but I had hear that if you check "Ignor ownership on this volume" in disk information then CS2 will let it work.
It did...
I was looking at the drive information and under Ownership & Permissions it is described as follows:
YOU CAN Read & Write
Details
OWNER Rich
ACCESS Read & Write
GROUP Rich
ACCESS Read Only
OTHERS Read Only
(checked) Ignore ownership on this volume
Someone suggested that what I need to do to get CS2 to run with this with "Ignore Ownership..." unchecked is to change GROUP to ADMIN and allow read & write.
Is this correct? 
The problem is that setting "Ignor ownership on this volume" makes this drive too accessible. |

This is a new one on me, I have never heard of a problem with scratch not recognising the disk unless there was a problem with it, very curious. Wayne |
