Hi i have a nikon coolscan 4000EED scanner with a batch adaptor. When I save as NEF files I cant open them in photoshop. I have tried convetrting them to DNG files with the Adobe DNG converter but this doesnt work either any thoughts would be appreciated. |

Which version of photoshop do you have, I have opened .NEF images in CS and CS2 with no problems, check to see you have the latest updates for your version. (I think you need CS or later for the NEF raw format) When you say DNG wouldn't work does that mean it couldn't convert them or you couldn't open the .DNG files in photoshop? Wayne |

An update to what I said above, it seems the coolscan .NEF's are NOT the same as the camera .NEF's (why cant they use a different name for goodness sake?) and as far as I can find out none of adobes products will support them. The best recomendation is to save as 16 bit .TIFF thus preserving as much data as possible.
Sorry for the misleading information above, I make the mistake of assuming a company like Nikon would only use the same prefix for the same files.
