In the Halloween spirit, I decided to photoshop a Gears of War themed jackolantern. However, obviously at this point it doesn't look very realistic.
Can anyone help me define the edges of the carvings? Also, anyone know how I can make the lighting inside the pumpkin look more realistic (maybe add a candle inside of it)? Thanks!

First I'd wrap the text a bit to make it look curved, theres a couple of ways of doing this, a quick way is to make a path with the pen tool then click the text tool on it and the text should follow the path.
Then I'd use the layer styles bevel and emboss to make it look cut in. Wayne |

Thanks a lot for the suggestions. Unfortunately, since I already merged the majority of my layers together, I may have to start over. 
EDIT: I may be able to salvage my work actually. However, I'm having trouble finding the correct settings under Bevel and Emboss. Any suggestions for the type of effect I'm trying to create? |

It's always worth saving a layered pic as .PSD before flattening it (just in case) especially if theres a lot of work in it. We have all done it though, only to curse after! lol (I know I have ) Wayne |

 Yeah, I have a bad habit of forgetting to save a layered file.
I'm still having trouble working with the bevel and emboss settings to create realistic looking edges. Any tips? |

They will vary from image to image with the size etc, try different settings. You could photograph a candle, then cut out the shapes and put the candle behind? maybe add a glow or rays of light coming out as well. Wayne |
