ok, this probably is simple to do but i am very new to photoshop, i have a picture of a corporate building with a huge american flag waving in front. I want to be able to make the picutre black and white all except the color of the flag. Is this easy to do ????

As Lasa says (and the thread) theres lots of ways the two easiest and quickest ways are, one, image/desaturate then with the history brush paint the colour back in (just paint over the flag) the second is to use the lasso tool and draw carefully around the flag, go to select/inverse then image desaturate.
