Hi...can somebody tell me if there is an easier, better way to optimize images from photoshop for web and especially flash....please help.

Are you using "Save for Web" option?
It gives you visual compresions options to chose from works like a champ.

yes I am, but still images are a bit too big for flash...if I compress it any more, the image quality is a messed up.

You need to decide what size your image is going to be in the finished flash site, then go to the image --> image size file menu in PS and resize it there making sure the dpi is 72, then go to save for web. It sounds like you are trying to save for web a hi res file. If you have already done this then maybe consider making the image smaller in size.
