I have saved a large image on a CD as a psd format. I cannot open it at all. I am using the same computer to open it (with photoshop on) that I used to save this image.

Am I buying the wrong type of CD that is, perhaps, too small to handle a large file such as this?

I know that I should have made the image smaller before saving it but I forgot. I now need to open it because that is the only archived sample that I have.

Any help would be most appreciated.

What is the size of the Image? As long as it is within the storage capacity of the disc you should have no problem.

Have you changed your photoshop version since you saved the image (to CS2 perhaps)?

I bet it was too large for the CD. I guess I need to know what size CD to buy to save large images on. I sure hope I can open it. A client depends upon it!!!

Sounds like it was too large so the media would be full but the image incomplete. Hopefully someone may suggest a way to recover the image but without the complete file it will most likely be u/s

If you need to save lots of large images and finances allow I'd get a DVD burner - the storage capacity is very good.

Better still and far more affordable is to buy an external hard drive (I have two 250gig externals) and store all original and client images there.

Are you sure the file extension isn't just screwed up..could be corrupt.
Even if it looks right try changing the file extention to .psd manuelly.

If the file is as large as you make it sound..doesn't fit on a CD (600mg?) maybe you have PS set up to not process files over: 200 mb?
Check under preferences File Browser?
Don't know if that would stop it from opening? but might be worth a try.
