I have been using photoshop CS (an educational version) for well over 2 years with absolutely no issues. I have not changed anything at all and suddenly my program has started doing odd things. First it puts vertical lines throughout my entire projects but only after I have added a text layer and then moved/adjusted another layer. Now all of my tools have become an eraser tool................I have tried everything to fix this, including reinstalling photoshop twice. Can anyone help???

Restore preference:
"To restore Photoshop to its default settings, hold down (Command-Option-Shift) [Ctrl+Alt+Shift] when starting the program."
You can read more about Preferences at;

That happened to me recently..it was because one of my 512MB stick of DDR ram fried and my computer was running out of memory.

Never eliminate it until you know for sure hehe.
