Yet again I'm feeling STUPID... I'm trying to type and I only get a horizintal underline where the type should go, yet the subject of what I typed shows up as the layer name. I KNOW this is something REALLY simple... my brain is fried from an all-nighter trying to hit a deadline... so please be gentle with me! Dead

Check to see if there any layers above your text that could be overlapping it. This happens to me a lot. LOL

or the font color is the same color as your background.

EUREKA! Type color was the same as the background color... I KNEW it would be simple! Thank you for the help! LOL
