Can someone please help me with this.
I've done this successfully in earlier version of PS but can't get it to work in photoshop CS version 8.0. Mac OS 10.3.9.
I put the plugins in:
applications/photoshop/plugins
I opened PS and the filters don't show up in the filters menu.
I also tried putting the plugins in:
programs/photoshop/plugins/filters
filters still did not show up.
I even tried adding the folder manually in photoshop preferences under plugins and scratch disk, pointing it to an additional plug in folder.
filters still did not show up.
I even tried deleting photoshop preference files and plugin preference files and restarted photoshop
filters still did not show up.
What is happening? are filters version dependent? Can someone please help? |

Does it happen to all the plugins you've add or just some? Because some plugins that worked under PS6/7 don't work on CS/CS2. They don't even register as an option.

They're plugins I've had for quite a while. 1991- '97. Really cool ones that now I need. So based on this, I guess they're too old to use with the new PS version. |

Do some load and other not? Can you give an example of one that does not work...I have a PS7 that I use for some plugins that don't load on CS.

None of them work. Even the more recent ones from 2004. Two examples that don't show up in the filters menu would be the Alien plugins 2004 and KPT 2.1 plugins '94, among all the rest. |

Alien plugins should work.
Are you reinstalling them or simply copying the plugin to the new folder?

Well I see your problem. I had the same problem a while ago. You have to actually load them into Adobe Photoshop. You have to click on the little arrow pointing right in the plug-in screen and click on load Plug in.
Hope that helps.
Thanks |
