i learned how to make fire with this:

and tryed to put fire on a car and when i try to color the flames no color comes up and yes i do tick the colorize option.

I have just tried that tutorial and the only thing i can see is that if you set hue to 38 and saturation to 60 and AFTER you check the colorise box, It resets the hue and saturation levels so they will need to be adjusted again.

Hope this is your problem and you can move on with your project.
