Here's the problem: we need to reproduce a grayscale image in CMYK, it has bloodred text handwritten on it.
For normal grayscale seps, we use a 'duotone simulation', ie. a separation that use very little CMY and mostly black. But this only works when the original is a grayscale, so the red color of the text would be lost.
I can also make a traditional separation. The red text is now okay, but there's too much CMY in the image itself, this will result in color casts on press.
So what I'd like to do is take these two cmyk versions, and blend them together. The endresult should have the weak CMY of the duotone simulation, except the text which should use the full cmyk range to make it bright red.
Any tips?
