I have a stock picture of my girlfriend and I would like to colour her hair, eyebrows and eyelashes in a close up picture. She has dark brown hair, what would be suggestions on the easiest way to go about colouring this. |

Add a new layer (layer/new) set the blend mode to colour (where it says normal on the layers palette) and with a soft brush paint on the colour, theres a degree of skill needed to make it look real though, my advice is go easy on the colour, subtle is good. Wayne |

If you load a picture it helps narrow possibilities.

My girlfriend found the simplest way would be to use the Polygonal Lasso Tool and free select the area you want to colour. This obviously depends on whether you want a solid block finish or just a subtle colour layer. Once you've selected the area, go to Image > Adjustments > Colour Balance and use the RGB Colour Balance and Tone Balance levels to achieve the desired result. Hope this helps, it's literally the speediest way to colour images, also tends to work best on a black/white canvas.
With a picture of a person it's really effective as you needn't worry about the details; eyelashes and strands of hair are especially good results as each individual strand still shows though the colour you've applied, whereas with block colour such as painting straight over you'd have to add the details again yourself which is quite time consuming. The only problem with using this method of colouring is that you're limited on the colours you can achieve because you'll be using RGB levels  |
