Hi im new to photoshop. I play bf2 and games like that and have seen people make really cool sigs, etc. If i go to bestbuy or newegg i see different "kinds" of photoshop. I dont know which one is best or which will be the best for me. What i want to do with photoshop is make signatures, graphics, and stuff like that. Which "kind" do you think would do the job? Im sure once i find the right one, it'll be all downhill from there. Thanks for reading

well downhill is typically a negative expression. ITs interesting how fdownhill and uphill are negative, people must really hate hills. Anyway, I use photoshop 6.0, which is fine for me, but photoshop CS or CS2 is the latest, and if you casn afford it and your computer can handle it, then buy it. PHotoshop 7.0 is probally your best bet though if CS r CS2 is out of the question. Also, if you can get it, buy illustrator, its vector based (like photoshops pen tool) which will come in handy later for things like advanced logo techniques. have fun.

I seem to remember my parachute instructor saying it's all downhill from here (and he was right) an interseting expression.
I'd argree with Haunus, it really depends on your budget and your computer, top of the range is CS2 , but 6 - 7 will do a good job, they just have a few less tools.
Be carefull when buying them though, make sure they are unused originals with the licence, or A you could get into trouble and B when the time comes for an upgrade Adobe wont accept your "old" version as legit and you wont get an upgrade price, you'll have to pay the full. Wayne

My understanding with upgrades is that during the install process the program
checks your registry for a previous 'key' from a previosus version.
Don't know what kind of limitations there are,
ie. if there would be a version restriction or not.
I am sure Adobe should be able to tell you more.

You can upgrade cheaper than buying the full "new" version. But you can still just go and buy it outright as well.
Both CS and CS2 require online registration and a new serial number (not sure about the serial for the upgrade but it still needs online reg) one advantage with having the older version first is .PSD files show up as thumbnails in Windows (they mostly don't if you only have a new version on your pc) Wayne
