Hi friends
I have a bmp file which when i open in windows paintbrush appears colored. when i open the same bmp file in photoshop 7 it appears black and white. plz help me to open a bmp file in photoshop 7 as in paintbrush.
bmp file link is http://geocities.com/soibaal/bmp/
i believe photoshop uses minimum 8 bits/channel and this bmp file was changed to less than that may be 1 bit/channel so it shows only 2 color black and white.
My requirement is to reduce this bmp files dimensions. But it would be of no use if it is in black and white.
i dont know how to work with 1 or 4 bits bmp file.
plz help me. this is very urgent.
I would really appreciate this.
thanx a million.
have a nice day.

dear friend
My objective it to reduce the dimension of the bmp image to (72% width, 73% height) while keeping the bmp file size minimum (146 bytes-240 bytes ) and the bmp image should have more or less the same color information at 72 pixel depth. The resultant image file should be a bmp file of same color mode as the source file.
Plz show me the way how you achieved it.
plz help

I don't know whats going on here but it open for me in B+W as well, I checked it's not a greyscale image, so I slightly puzzeled. The best advice I can give is to grab a screen cap of it and save as a jpeg. That will give a smaller file size as well. Wayne |

Iwasnt even allowed that option when I tried to save I dont know how to help you. those radio buttons were disabled when I tried, it only let me save it as 24 bit. Perhpas there's an outside program? though im thinking you wont be able to because those arent normal colors and I think they require more than 8 bit to function properly. The computer doesnt store colors as each indivdiual color in a bit, but rather all the color information from its capabilties to reproduce the color that you want whenever an instance is needed. |
