Okay so I found this tut, and its pretty simple...but after I do the contract part, thats where I hit a speed bump.

How exactly do I create this new layer? Everytime I try something, I end up locking a layer, deleting a layer, or erasing everything. Its probably the easiest thing in photoshop, but I just dont understand it. "create new layer" is just too broad for someone like me (i.e first time user).

So if anyone could give me super dooper, ultra stupid baby step instructions on what to do immeadiately after doing the contracting of the selectiion, it would be much appreciated.

Add "alt" or "option" to that short command and you'll skip the dialog box that pops up. Time saving (and less irritating) :)
