But those are on a background. I think it looks nicer with just the image in the text with no background. I wrote a tute if anyone is interested.

I'm interested!!

Here's the final image. I have the images for my tute but can't find the written portion. Mad I will have to look more. I know I posted it on another board but my search efforts have been unproductive thus far.

Images in Text (transparent background, multiple images)

*** There are several ways of doing this and it is easier when it is just one image but in this case, we are using several images. You can also do it on a solid background of your color choice. I prefer transparent backgrounds.

1) Open the pictures you'd like to use, make sure they're the size you want. It's easy to make them too large and then the part of the image you want to display won't be seen. You can always delete a layer later though. I chose pics of Sawyer (Josh Holloway) of Lost.

2) Create a new transparent background in the size you want. For this tutorial, I'm using these dimensions: 500 x 200 pixels.

3) Make sure your layers window is open.

4) Click on the text tool. Select a text that is wide enough for images to show through. Don't use a skinny font like Scriptina, it defeats the purpose. I chose the color black but it doesn't matter since text color won't be illustrated.

I chose BlaxSlabXXL, size 120.

5) Once you're text is done, hold on to CTRL and click on the T in the text layer. Choose Select Layer Transparency. It should be selected aka have crawling ants.

6) Use your Selection tool and draw around the first image/picture. Copy the first image.

7) On your Text image, go to Edit> Paste Into. The image should appear within the text.
Use the move tool to place it where you want.

Cool Repeat step #5 until the images are where you want. (Take note that the second image you place, once it's pasted, will appear below the first pic and seem invisible. It's not, it's there but you must use your move tool in order to see it).

9) Click on the text layer and choose select transparency (as aforementioned) each time you want to place another image.

10) This is how my final layers palette looks.

11) Save as a gif in order to have a transparent background.

This is how it should look at the end, images in text with transparent background.

***If you find that there is too much of a transparent background when everything is done or even before, you can just use the crop tool to cut out what you don't want, it won't affect anything other than actual size.

If you have any questions, ask away.

care to share how??

Kylie has beet me to it! See directly above this post. Thanks Kylie :-) You know you can also add layer style to the lettering. layer styles (for those of you who don't know) are things like drop shadows and beavel and emboss.

(HINT) Left dubble click on the layer you wish to add the layer styles to and PLAY AROUND with them! You can also add more than ONE different layer style to any given layer. This "hint" will only work in Photoshop versions 6, 7, CS and CS2.

Good luck!
