I'm all set to put up some photos of a leaving party on a blog but seeing as the blog will be closed down after this batch of photos I want to do something different. I don't just want to put up the photos, I'd like to use some imagination. However have never used Photoshop before. My brain is thinking of something like turn them into oil paintings or line drawings.

I've attached a typical photo of the night. Basically it was a dark lounge bar so the flash really worked overtime. Any tips or ideas would be greatly appreciated!!

The dark backgrounds your biggest problem here, most of the painting sort of effects will just lose all the detail there. I have played around a little and came up with this. Wayne

i took my hand at making some "paintings" too

if they are too dark I can make them lighter.

Pretty interesting stuff guys, thanks. I carried on trawling through these forums and I saw the link for good-tutorials.com. Saw a particular one that interested me, one that gives pix a Warhol effect. I took a stab at it, as you can see, and may contibue this format as the blog's background is all black so think will sit in there quite nicely.

Does Photoshop have a particular quirk however, as the soft color I chose in Photoshop seems to have hardened once I saved it? The pic you see below is definitely darker thanwhen it's opened in Photoshop...
