smudge tool acting weird.

never had this problem before. when i use the smudge tool, instead of acting normally, it causes a large blotch, even with only one touch. i'm includint an old photo i'm starting to retouch. the blotch is to the girl's left, by her eye. thanks, boy

Have you got the finger paint tool checked marked on the smugde tool?

i made the image very tiny this time in case you have a small limit on size. it's really grainy but you can probably see the problem. the smudge on her hair near her mouth was caused by one simple movement of the smudge tool. i haven't found a problem with any other tools so i'm baffled. thanks, boyd.
