Elements is a very similar interface and the indivudal tool will be the same to use, CS just has more features, so it shouldn't really be any more difficult to master.
I know CS looks daunting when you first start, but it won't take you long to get the hang of it. I'd stick with it personally. Wayne

It depends on what you want to do. Photoshop Elements is not really "beginnish", but it's easier to use and learn, yes. Elements is a scaled-down edition of Photoshop, where many features have been taken away. Photoshop's target audience are professionals working with graphic design and/or photography, while Elements rather focuses on amateurs and enthusiasts. Elements is often sold bundled with printers, scanners or digital cameras, for example.

So, it's just a choice between loads of functions, and... loads of functions. Elements can still do a lot, and if you just want to do some basic editing, you can aswell switch to using Elements. Though if you want to do more than that, stick with your CS.

Spend the money and get PS CS2 it is better then PS CS. As far as your poll and questions. PS Elements is much better for users who are starting out because A. It's affordable for the average consumer. B: it is easy to use for the average consumer.

What Photoshop Elements doesn't have is layer masks, Alpha channels, and the pen tool, calcaulations and the apply image tools, which could make the starting user loose their minds if they never used those tools before if/or when they try to understand how those tools work without any instruction. PS CS 1 & 2 is for the advanced - high end users.

Hope that helps.
