Thanks for your help- I have a portrait that has a very green solid background. I would like to change this color to something a little more easy on the eye- I have tried all the tutorials that refer to this action, but have not managed yet to accomplish this task..I thought maybe someone here could help...I am a very new user to photoshop-thanks- I have versions 6 and have downloaded the free trial 7.0

You could ty either select/colour range or perhaps the magic wand tool to select the background, then you could use image/ajustment/hue saturation to change the colour. If you can post the pic we can see what might be the best option for you. Wayne

i will go for the wand as the #1 choice, although there are different tones of green on that pic. I wouldnt go for any mayor color changing tool as those may affect colors that you dont want to be changed

Thanks, I did as you suggested-I think that was one thing I experimented with earlier, but it leaves a halo around the subjects, especially the blond woman...):

She has very fine hair I think, and the colour is showing through a little (and reflecting) I think you going to have to clone a little around the top of the head to hide it, it's best to do it when you have the selection on then you wont go over onto the background. Wayne

Very roughly done.
