I am trying to create an image that is 10x8 in inches in PS. I select inches when I am creating it, however it isn't actually 10x8'. It looks much larger than that. Is there a setting that I am overlooking?

Go to image>image size. if it says it's 10x8 then it iss. The overlooked setting is probably the resolution. if your resolution is high (like say 300, an acceptable resolution for printing anything), then you may have more pixels than expected and the image will seem gigantic when you zoom in.

also hit ctrl+R to show the rulers. If it says 10x8 then it is. So just because it looks bigger doesnt mean that its not the right size. Like Gallo said, its probably your resolution. It could also be your zoom level.

Ok, my next question is this:
when I select an area with the rec. maq. tool and then fill with paint bucket it is always black, even though I have another color selected. |

Are you by any chance in greyscale mode? (image/mode/greyscale) if so simply switch to RGB mode and that should fix the problem (in greyscale mode it turns everything black and white) Wayne |
