i have photoshop cs, with camera raw plugin 2.4, on a macintosh running 10.4.4 i can open .crw files from my canon g3 just fine. i then cannot however use half of the photoshop functions. i can use the image menu, but in the filter menu, only blur, noise, sharpen and stylize are active. ie artistic, brush strokes, distort, pixelate, render, etc are greyed out.

i can save as the .crw image in the following formats only: photoshop, cineon, photoshop pdf, photoshop raw, png, and tif. this is not the usual choice of save-to formats - eg no jpeg. i can crop the document and save it as a .psd file; but with the new .psd document, i still cannot use the artistic and other filters, and i still cannot save as .jpg.

anyone know what's up here? not very useful to a be able to open a .crw file and then not be able to use filters nor to save it as a .jpg.

Check if your in 16bit mode, a lot of the filters are greyed out then, switch to 8 bit and you should be ok. Wayne
