Ok, i've been looking for a way to do this for a while and it's about time i asked someone.

I'm looking for a way to replace a certain colour with transparency.

Exactly like the replace color/selective color tool, exept instead of changing the color to a diffarent colour, it is replaced with transparency.

I don't mean anything like the magic wand tool or removing one colour like you can with a gif. I mean removing the whole color so it still has transparent pixels and looks half decent.

Here's an example:

Would become:

Obviously not as well as that, but you get the idea.

Is there any way to do this?

I hope you understand what i mean. Big Grin Thanks in advance. :)

If I had to do it on the sample given...I'd use the extract tool.
Bring up the extract tool... then with a large brush, brush over everything that has even a hint of red..leaving only a little solid red area in the middle somewhere. this area fill with the fill tool. (you need to leave something to fill or the extract tool won't work)...I tried it and it worked surprisingly well..

or

You could probably use the "blend if" layer style also...taking out the blue.
Also worked..ok..Extract worked better..

or probably use a channel mask...I can't help you there..my channel mask tend to bite.

Good luck,

Lasa
