Hi, I'm new to Photoshop, so I don't really know much about it. I need help figuring out if Photoshop 7 with Image Ready is compatible with my computer. I have windows xp service pack 2 and a AMD 64 Athlon processor on my computer. Does anyone know if it will work on my computer? Also can I upgrade from Photoshop 7, to Photoshop CS by using an upgrade disk? Is Photoshop CS also compatible on my computer? Sorry to bother you all, just looking for help. Thanks for reading.

You haven't given much in the specification of your pc, but I have PS 7.0 on my old IBM, which is really old (about 8 years old) and it runs fine on that, when I started with it, it was a pentium 266 with 64mb ram and a 4gb hard drive on windows 95, that would run it but a bit slow (not too bad though) I upped the ram to 256 (the most it would take) and added more hard drive and it worked very well, indeed it still does (now on window 98 ). It's speed wasn't helped by about a 1000 fonts and dozens of plug-ins I added over the years.
Your pc should run 7.0 ok at a guess, I think it might be worth checking the minum spec on CS before buying an upgrade though. Wayne

In short answer "yes" to both questions. 1. Make sure you have at least 512 MB of DDR ram (two sticks of 256 DDR ram works the best to make up 512 MB) installed in your computer because ANY Photoshop/Adobe product takes ALOT OF number crunching - ESPECIALLY when you get into learning Alpha Channels. 2. Yes you can upgrade from 7.0 to CS or CS2 but MAKE SURE you have an 100% legitimate copy of the Adobe product that YOU HAVE registered in advance. NOT A PIRATED COPY, or in other words, Photoshop (or any other Adobe product) won't even load up!!! _________________ Qubert
