Watchout guys! I'm attempting (ATTEMPTING) to do more graphic/web design stuff! Let the headaches begin! LOL!!!
Alright, I've read through some of these threads about transparencies (sp?) and I'm still having problems getting something to appear transparent. It's a sig, and it's transparent until I have to flatten it to save it as a .png, then the background becomes white. I've checked that box "transparent" and it still appears white after flattening. I've posted it in another fourm w/a black background, and it still has that white background. I don't want white, I want clear (picky picky, I know!). Any help here? The sig is a working progress, but I'll post it anyways.....non Patriots fans please ignore

Don’t flatten it. Just go Save for Web and choose PNG-24. But BEWARE, just about every browser on earth fully supports PNG-24 except … guess who?
MSIE for Windows. Sigh. |

Save for web.....man, if I had a brain I'd take it out and play with it! With that said, I'll try that later tonight at home (saving it differently, not playing with my brain!!!)
So, are you saying that it's not going to be transparent on IE due to that whole PNG-24 deal? _________________ All gave some, some gave all.....Lest we forget that war produces veterans, wounded both mentally and physically, and it is our job to help them now, as they have already helped us all in ways we will never know, and in ways that we take for granted every day. |

I’m not sure how IE will display the image (IE for Mac supports PNG-24 just fine).
I know MSIE Windows doesn’t offer 8-bit transparency support (allowing semi-transparent pixels) which you can have in a PNG (as opposed to a GIF file, where pixels can be either fully opaque or fully transparent, nothing in between.) |

So, would I be better off saving as a .gif instead of a .png?
And here we are again, back to how much Mac beats up on Windows....I miss or old power G3 Macs..... _________________ All gave some, some gave all.....Lest we forget that war produces veterans, wounded both mentally and physically, and it is our job to help them now, as they have already helped us all in ways we will never know, and in ways that we take for granted every day. |

I would try both and see how they look on your (and other) machines and browsers. Since it is full-tone photo, I would save at max color in GIF (256 Index color).
This isn't really a Mac v. PC thing. There are browsers for Windows that support PNG, and oddly MSIE for Mac supports PNG. Go figure... |
