is that possible?

or to edit a layer property like gradient overlay from 2 layers at the same time?

i'm not sure, but i know you can copy a layer style and paste it on another layer.
Or you could also create a layer style on your layer and then duplicate it, but i think the copy and paste option is better.

the newest version i assume, let me see...hmmm photoshop CS2 version 9

i searched google for ages but the closest in the direction i got was some paid training wich may or may not adressed the issue

as moi said, it's probably best to put the style on one layer, then right-click the layer on the palette and and go to "copy layer style", then paste it onto the other layer. (if you're on a mac it'll be option-click or whatever)

its not like the layers needing the style are all neatly lined up below eachother.....they are all over the place you see

I was going to suggest using a Gradient Fill Adjustement Layer on a Layer Group (Layer Set) and not have it affect the layers below. But for some reason you can't (unlike Levels, Curves, HueSat etc.) Odd.
