I am a newbie with PS CS2.I used to be able to enter any value less than one like .15 , .25 etc with decimal points but now...it is not letting me do it, when I try it is making this beeping noise. Can you please help...I know this may be a stupid question but please help.  |

Are you working with any selections open? or do you have any layers as well as the background?
Try making a new image 5x7 300 dpi rgb and try rotating that.
One last point, it's pretty hard to spot a .15 rotation are you sure it's not doing it? the beep may be telling you it's done it (edit/preferences/general beep when done) look to see if it's ticked.

thank you Wayne...my problem is I cannot even put the decimal point if I want to put 1.5 I cannot put the decimal point betweent 1and five. When I try to press the decimal point it beeps. I hope you understand this... |

This is a strange one, I did a few tests earlier, and I couldn't replicate your problem, what mode are you in RGB or something else? I even did a search on the net and couldn't find anything similar either. My only suggestion is to try deleting the photoshop preferences file and see if that cures it
Re-create the Photoshop preferences file to eliminate problems that a damaged preferences file might cause.
To re-create the Photoshop preferences file:
1. Quit Photoshop.
2. Rename the Adobe Photoshop CS2 Prefs.psp file (for example, to Adobe Photoshop CS2 Prefs.old) in the Documents and Settings\ [username] \Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop\9.0\Adobe Photoshop CS2 Settings folder.
3. Start Photoshop. Photoshop creates a new preferences file.
If the problem continues, the preferences file isn't the cause. To restore custom settings, delete the new preferences file and restore the original name of the previous preferences file.

Wayne thank you so mich for your time and I did what you said. I deleted the file in the end and started PS but no changes from the state where I cannot use any numbers with decimal points...it is still making that noise. I am stuck...regards Rajeev. |

Sorry Rajeev, I'm baffled by this one, my only other suggestion is to un-install, and then re-install Photoshop, that should put it right, I'm guessing somethings corupted somewhere, although why is anybodys guess.
One last thought is it only happening on one image or have you tried lots of different ones?
I had a problem a while back when I tried to save a duplicate image PS wouldn't let me, I eventually figured out it was only one batch of images that were playing up, when I downloaded them again (from the camera) they all worked fine, something must have corupted in the download.
I never had the problem again, very strange that it only affected one part of the process, everything else in PS worked fine.

What happens if you highlight the input value and use the up and down arrows on your keyboard?
Or have you tried to "scrub" input for the angle? (Move cursor to left of input box, you should get a little finger icon with arrows on either side. Drag to change value. (That is called "scrubbing", don't know why.)
The only way I can duplicate is if I hold down a modifier key like alt or shift while hitting the period (decimal) key. |
