I've been asked to design the Kentucky state USBC youth bowling site and I wanted to see what you guys think of this design.

Well, functional…
But a little lackluster?
Bowling is fun. I think the logo should be a bigger part of the design. Be active in the use of space. Make visual references to pins, balls, scores etc. Maybe check out some Flash animation?

And, not sure about your navigation. You have a menu bar… but all the topics on listed on the home page? A navigation bar should take you places other than the home page.

I think the home page should be more artistic, dynamic, fun.

Thank you for replying.

Yeah those are great ideas, lol, I dont know why I didn't even think of those.

I was going to add a little detail from each topic page in each box, kinda like a news paper, a little bit of everthing is on the front page to catch veiwers attenion on different subjects. This is suppose to be a news site so I just thought it would be a good idea to lay it out like this. If you beleive this isn't a good idea I could reconsider the layout.

Thanks alot for your input.

I like the newspaper concept. I would play more on that! (it's funny, some newspaper front pages are trying to look more like web sites... so do the visa-versa!)

I know nothing about graphics etc - but it does look a little bare - just my opinion.
