|
|
I'm trying to make a poster in photoshop as a X-mas gift for a friend (he's a huge MJ fan) and I was wondering if I need to change any settings or maybe there's some type of rule or guidline I would need to follow.
The size is 36in x 24in
Would I have to change the color modes or DPI any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You. |

The higher you scan the dpi in at, the bigger the print size you will get. you will need a VERY HIGH quality scanner to achieve the settings you are thinking of. MOST HOME scanners can not scan in at that level and the home printers CAN NOT print out at the level your thinking of - JUST TOO BIG. You would have to go to an industral printing company in your city to get the good results you want. BE AWARE that they charge a VERY heafty price for just one poster sized print. _________________ Qubert |

I'm not scanning anything or trying to print something that is 2ft x 3ft on my home printer....lol
I was just wondering if there are any guidelines I need to follow so there is no problem when I take it to the print shop.
Yeah it is kinda pricey @ about 50 bucks. |

Fifty USD is too high. You should be able to get a 24X36 photograph for around $35. These guys in Atlanta did well by me for digital (uploaded to their site) 36 X 24 inch photos.

The files I sent were around 180 ppi at 36 X 24in. Since it’s a photographic process (as opposed to a four-color run) exact ppi is not so critical. Also, since large pictures are usually view further away than small snap-shots, the lower than average ppi did not have much negative impact.
Check with your printing lab if they need exact res and/or color settings.
I’d scan photos at highest optical resolution of your scanner. Then resize as needed for your poster. |
