Distortion? All I see is an image that is blurry, unless I'm missing something.

Well if you look a lil closer at the edge of his arms and club head there's something going on.

I've never heard of JPEG artifacts so I googled it and just learned that it's caused by lossy compresion.

You're welcome. And be aware every time you resave an image as a JPEG, even at highest quality, it will recompress and decrease image quality. Best to take a photo, then save in a lossless format, like TIFF or PSD.
