Hi all, how are we doing?

What the hell is this background eraser tool?, I have tried to use it from a magazine tutorial but however it wipes out half of the foreground even though the threshold is set to only 50% and to 25% were nothing happens, when set to 50%. and protect foreground is on i get the brush wiping over the foreground or changing the foreground to a reddish color and the background to a white chequered board which i want. I am trying to make a photomontage and just keeping my family in the picture (the foreground) and erasing the the green trees (in the background).

Can anyone help, Ihave tried the magic wand and its ok but very time consuming.

Thankyou all --------- Josel

Can you post the picture...there are many ways to select colors, seeing the picture might help narrowing the choices.
