So, I have (or will have) many different photos of different objects: a book, a lamp, a cat, etc. These photos were taken at different times of day with different lighting... I am putting all of these pictures in the same picture, so I need the lighting to be the same, or as close as possible. I'm using Photoshop CS2, and any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Try usling levels, curves, variations, brightnes&contrast, or all of them. I'd try variations first, just move the slider to the left to reduce the amount of "harshness" that each click of the mouse makes. There are a million different ways to change the lighting of an image, but it'll vary from image to image. You've just gotta find out which adjustment works best for which image.

No problem! Let us know if you don't get your desired results. Post a pix and we'll try to give you a little more "pointed" direction.
