I love photoshop, but I suck at vector graphics. I've been trying to come up with a logo for my web design company and I've had minimal success with it. My latest attempt is attached, any and all input is appreciated.

I might decrease the stroke on the CWD, and Im not sure if i like the gradient. A gradient might look fine there if it was blended a little better. with less of a defined line, so it doesnt look so much like a lightsaber. Also, what would it look like if it was just the middle, globe, circle thing, with the arrow and text? Lose outter circle and gradient? Possibly even change the font face to something that would incorporate it better into the design.

I agree with helcyon on the font.
I was taught: Never CAPITALIZE Old English.
Try a stylized sans serif.

ok so i decided to change it for you to give you some ideas. i did this real quick, so its not that great, but with logos, they usually need to be really simple, cantaining few colors. It needs to be able to work in just black and white. When you have that, then work on adding color. The font I used was Berlin Sans FB. Experiment with size, and placement. Here are just a few examples, 2 BW, then those 2 with some color. Try to keep logos with 2 - 3 colors. (and black is a color, when it comes to printing and cost) Well I guess you said it was for a website, so cost doesnt really matter, but simplicity on logos is usually a good thing. Anyway here are my ideas...

That type face looks good.

The blue and orange seems the best to me. And wouldn't be too difficult to print with small offset.
Take out the black outline. It does nothing.
Registration problems could occur around the arrow (a slight colour misregister and it would look crappy)

Printed on a GTO it would be okay.
Make sure you talk to your printer regarding 'trap' He should be able to explain what it means and how much he wants.

Bear in mind design is but a part of the whole.

But for other media. okay.

helcyon has done a good job to help you get started

Keep working on it. Good logo design can be spontanious or take forever (LOL)

thanks for the input guys. I really don't want to buy something, rather have it all done myself, it's just the creative juices stop flowing in this arena. I'll post anything else I can think of.

i agree on the blue and orange looking good but what do those colors mean? are you going for a very buisness oriented website...or maybe somthing a litle more casual. I learned that colors can also make a first impression as far as the tone of the entire website/buisness etc etc. looking good though
