Just purchased Photoshop CS2 and I haven't been able to open Nikon NEF (RAW) files from my Nikon D70s. The Camera RAW 3.0 plug-in is present in the Photoshop Plug-in directory. I get the error message, "Could not complete your request becuase it is not the right kind of document." I have NEF files from a Nikon D70 that open with out a problem. I can import the files without a problem with the bridge, but once I try to edit a file, I get the error message. Any help on this would be GREATLY appreciated as I don't know where to go from here.

disclaimer---I've never actually really used raw
But I thought when you opened a raw you were given something adjust exposure/contrast/stuff before it actualy presents you with a normal photoshop screen and tools. Therefore I would think if you get thet right away there must be something wrong. i would try checking your image mode (you probably want it in RGB so go inage | mode | RGB), then I'd see if nikonhas any raw software, and then I might even see if changing the extension to.raw helps

I think you'd be better off getting Raw shooter esentals (it's free) and it's one of the better raw converters, I use it in preference to PS.

ACR 3.0 does not support NEF raw files from the D70s. You need to download the free upgrqade to ACR 3.2 from Adobe. |
