I created a web site a couple of years ago in Fireworks that came in the Macromedia MX suite during an internship. A couple weeks ago the owners of the site wanted me to make changes to it which involved changing the navigation and such. I now own the Adobe Creative Suite and do not have access to the Macromedia Suite. I have the orginal PNG files that were created in Fireworks but when I open the files in either Illustrator or Photoshop the files appear as though they could be JPEG or GIF files because they are flattened and uneditable. Any advice? I figured especially with Illustrator and Fireworks both being high on vector graphics I could easily make the nessary changes to the files. Let me know if this could be done in either Illustrator or Photoshop |

Layered png files are (were) a proprietary Macromedia type of png format. Now that Adobe owns Macromedia, maybe something, someday, will be done about that.
About the only way around it is to send the layerd png file to someone with Fireworks, open and save it as a psd file to send back to you. |
