I understand what your saying about all the steps. I was just really wanting to know the steps to get that look just in case somewhere down the line I need to do it again on something else. I don't want to keep having you do it for me, know what I mean? Maybe this time you can kind of keep track of the key points in building it and tell me what they are and maybe I'll pick up on what I'm doing wrong or not doing. My main issue is getting it done but on the other hand I would also like to know how to do it. I'll get you the files and send them over. Thanks for you help!

The file gets to big to send by e-mail once the layers kick in..
so I'll walk you thru the dark helmet..very easy.

Duplicate the layer
Inverse the duplicate layer
open a new layer under the dup/layer and make your gradient (you need some sort of color in the background)

Now go back to the inverted layer, then go to the layer style > blending options...and alt pull to separate the white triangle...see attached...do the same for the black.
Play with the separated triangles.

Duplicate the layer and set the top layer to SCREEN, duplicate it again if you want it brighter..

See how the blend affects the picture...if you want a part to be have more of a contrast paint a dif. gray into the inverted layer then blend..dif. shades of gray blend out differently.

When you are done the layers should be as follows:
-inverted layer with the blend if applied as attached, set to screen
-Inverted layer mode normal
-Gradient layer mode normal
-original black helmet background (turned off)

Hope it helps..

Thank you so much it looks awesome. You have no idea how far I was off. I guess I didn't think it would be that easy. I was doing the the "blend if" but it was after I did other things to it and it never came out right. The whole time I was thinking it was a bunch of steps and thats where I went wrong. Thanks for all your time on this, sorry for being such a pain.

Yeah, I'm playing around with it now. Trying different things to see how it looks but what you gave me definitely helped me for the original look I was trying to get. Thanks
