well, i'm sort of new to photoshop. we've been learning it in school and i'd like to use photoshop at home to further my learning and to design things. unfortunatly, all my computers at home are a little old. our best is a Pentium III 833 Mhz with 128 MB of RAM. which older version of photoshop would have the most features and stuff, and would run well on this computer? oh and at school we're learning 5.5 and the computer has a 64MB video card if that helps any.

I recommend PS7

Your system should run any PS well as long as u have a lot of space on your hard drive & u have your PS scratch disk set to that drive.

I was using PS7 on a P3 450 with 256 mb ram
worked fine but got a little slow on huge files.

I used Photoshop on my Old PC:

733mhz
256 RAM

this was CS 8 and it ran fine, no problems, just a little bit slow, so yours will run fine, and a bettter video card, is only really useful, if your going to be doing very precise photo editing, or working with large and i mean LARGE canvases, aka 6000x6000+

so it should run fine

Yeh, generally buying things form the internet is far cheaper than buying from local shops, i think you can pick up photoshop 7 for around $79.95 or £40 now over the internet i think, try searching for photoshop 7 on google, and good luck on finding a cheap copy

I still have my old non pentium pc, and that ran PS6 and later PS 7 without any problems at all (if a little slowly) and that only had 64mb ram, so yours should run 7 with no problems Wayne

If you can snag another 128 of memory (or 256) your system is enough to run 7/8 no with no problem. Just ask any freind of yours that has up graded for there old memory or strip one of the older pc's of theres as long as its the same type of memory it should work.
You need more memory.

Good luck,
Lasa
