I have a .gif image and I want to change it's resolution. I know that if I click on IMAGE then IMAGE SIZE I can change the resolution. The only problem with that is that the picture get really grainy when I zoom in on it. Any way to change the resolution without making it really grainy?

If you zoom in close enough on any image, it's going to get grainy, despite the quality of the original. Try not to zoom past 100%.

For resizing your image, make the desired changes (width and height), then check the box that says "Resample Image", then next to it select a method, then finally click "ok". I believe that bicubic is the best option, but try all of them and see what your results are.

Hope this helps. If not, post back and let us know Big Wink

If you have PS CS or CS-2, choose Bicubic Smoother for uprezing an image. But I think you are looking for blood out of a turnip.

The crime shows on TV where the detective gets a really bad and blurry still image from a surveillance video camera, and the crime lab uses special "zoom-in and enhance" imaging software to get a sharp picture of license plate number from a car parked two blocks down the street... well, that doesn't exist. ;)

and welcome to the forum.

[EDIT]
Oh. GIF! Change the mode from Index Color (gif) to RGB before you resize it. If you resample in Index Color Mode, I believe Photoshop only uses the limited colors in the inedex palette in creating new pixels. This might help quite a bit.
