Wow! That's wrong. Just plain wrong. Although, thermal transfer does have it's ups and downs, seems to be more downs as time and technology grows!
As far as the color and contrast of the Pictrographs, I don't really have a problem with it. With that said, I am printing my own stuff, so if I did have a problem with it, it would be my own dumb fault. Printing my own stuff is like sending out work to a custom lab for custom individual prints. If I want to add more contrast or green, or take away some cyan or yellow, I just make another print! I have taken my stuff to a professional lab before and been unhappy with the results (both film and digital). They use big terms to explain their stupid mistakes. Then I tell them that I'm a professional digital photographer, how to fix their problems in photoshop, and that I'll wait for them to reprint it free of charge. They don't like that.
cbadland, do u have a link or two for that epson printer you were talking about? I wonder how much the prints, ink and printer is? _________________ All gave some, some gave all.....Lest we forget that war produces veterans, wounded both mentally and physically, and it is our job to help them now, as they have already helped us all in ways we will never know, and in ways that we take for granted every day.
I don’t know if they would be fast enough for your job. I think they (the UltachromeK3 printers) are more geared towards ‘fine art” printing. Slow.
I’m using the Epson 2200 at home, which also uses archival inks, but only has two blacks (not three- K3) and does not do well on glossy paper. Also pokey.
Great! Thanks for the info. I'll be sure to check them out. _________________ All gave some, some gave all.....Lest we forget that war produces veterans, wounded both mentally and physically, and it is our job to help them now, as they have already helped us all in ways we will never know, and in ways that we take for granted every day.
